White Reindeer Productions spanning the globe one drink at a time...
Our host is not a professional critic... he isn't a sommelier... he’s just a down-to-Earth Boston guy with a taste for liquor and a dream to open up his own bar. Now that he's getting closer to seeing this dream through, he wants to fill up his menu with the world’s best drinks. What are people drinking in South America, Asia, and Russia? To find the answers, he’s taking a trip around the world. The thing is... he's never been outside the United States. Each week we follow our host to a single country, ranging from the exotically beautiful tothe third world. This show puts us on the ground level -- to local bars, backyards, street festivals, and little-known hideaways that only natives know about. Unlike most show hosts, he's new to these places, making him a more relatable character for the viewer. Neither of us quite know what to expect, not from the culture and certainly not from the drinks. Some drinks like Thailand’s Wop, a fruit-flavored “slushy” with a homemade Whisky, and Oahu's fermented-pineapple drink Oke Lahow, are a no-brainer. Others dare you notto gag from the thought of it. Take the Back-Alley Menstruation Whisky in Bangkok orthe Tiger Vodka in Laos (yeah, it is just that). Whether they end up on the menu or not, the drinks ultimately tell a story about the culture to which they belong. This travel show is less about getting to know the history of the land and more about the new friends our host makes while hunting for beverages. He gets to meet locals like Mr. Shiva, a.k.a. "Thai Elvis," who makes his own whisky, and the Baba in Nepal who concocts a special yogurt drink just for our host in the middle of a huge Hindu festival. As our host says: "There's no better way to get to know people than over a couple of drinks."On his adventure, our host learns that drinking isn't about getting hammered. It's abouttaking a time out from life to bond with people. Whether sipping backyard moonshine atan authentic luau in Maui or sampling home-brewed beer with Sherpa’s at the base of Mt.Everest, our host is showing all of us how to become a world class Booze Traveler…
